About Us

The Climate Psychology Alliance (CPA) is a not-for-profit membership organisation that addresses the psychological aspects of the climate emergency.

We are a diverse community of therapeutic practitioners, thinkers, researchers, artists and others. We believe that attending to the psychology and emotions of the climate and ecological crisis is at the heart of our work.

Whoever and wherever we are today, we are affected by the climate emergency, whether or not we know it. A growing number of us are affected physically and materially, and a multitude of us are now affected psychologically and emotionally – in our private thoughts, in our reactions to the latest news, in our senses of loss, anger and despair.

The CPA welcomes anyone and everyone to its membership who wants to engage in addressing the psychological aspects of the climate emergency and who would like to understand more about these issues. Our approach is to help recognise and understand our part in the problem, hold the tension between hope and despair to increase practical and creative engagement, restore the feelings, values and justice to the centre of the human picture, and address climate anxiety and existential shame by offering understanding and support.

As a not-for-profit membership organisation, we invite people to join in, and come to our individual events. We also work with Partner organisations. We are a Community Benefit Society coordinated by an Executive Group, and supported by an Advisory Group.
