Transform Trade works for trade and climate justice. In South Asia and East Africa, we support farmers, workers and artisans to benefit from more sustainable and equitable trade, and in the UK we advocate and campaign for changes to business practices and government policy.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed policy adviser or senior policy adviser (depending on experience) to lead our work influencing on trade and agriculture

You’ll be part of a team of specialists influencing UK and global policy in solidarity with southern advocacy partners seeking to make the global trade system more just.

You will have a strong understanding of how trade and trade policy connects  to the lives of small-holder farmers across the world. You will be a skilled and strategic advocate and a confident communicator who can engage persuasively with a variety of audiences. You will be comfortable engaging with complex trade and economic issues, analysing policy and creating robust, evidence-based positions.   You will have a good understanding of parliamentary processes and the opportunities these present for influencing. You will be able to work effectively and collaboratively with a range of colleagues and partners, including those from different countries and cultures, and to develop and implement joint strategies for advocacy that are rooted in the realities of people in the Global South.  You’ll be flexible,  a team player, ready and willing to embrace new areas of work and the challenges that this job will throw at you.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, flexible hours and location, friendly colleagues, and the knowledge that you could be helping to shape a more equitable and sustainable  approach to global trade.

It is an exciting time to join our organisation. Following a strategic review, we are embarking on a process of change to shift power to groups in the global south, and to rethink the way we work in the UK. We are committed to equality and providing a diverse and inclusive workplace.  We particularly welcome applications from those who are significantly underrepresented in our sector, including disabled people and individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.

We are looking to hire for one role but will consider applications for either a policy advisor or a more experienced senior policy advisor.  Please make it clear on your application form which role you wish to be considered for.
